Confetti as we know it now (paper shapes) is a relitively modern concept.
The tradition comes from pagan routes. Originally seeds and flowers were thrown over the couple to symbolise fertility. Over the years this changed to rice and then to paper.
In this age of global responsibility, more venues are requesting that biodegradable product are used and this is helping to see the upsurge of the use of petals both dried and fresh. There are some beautiful examples of these product available.
