Wedding favours have been given for hundreds of years. The idea is thought to have originated in Italy.
There are records from the 1700 of Favours being habded out in Scotland.
Traditionally the favours were 5 nuts ~ (later sugared almonds) that were wrapped in delicate fabric and handed to the female wedding guests. The nuts symbolised Health,wealth, longevity, faithfulness and fertility.
The modern bride is spoilt for choice with the array of modern takes on the custom. There are many options available including the traditional sugared almonds.
Our own inscence stick favours are a take on the 5 for health, wealth, longevity, happiness and fertility.
Men are now as likely to recieve favours too.
